From Dock to Rack: Receiving and Inspecting Furniture at our Warehouse

Johnny Borda·Apr 16, 2025·2 min read

Receiving furniture at a warehouse isn't just about unloading boxes; it's a critical step that impacts customer satisfaction, inventory accuracy, and the overall success of an interior design project. At B Cubed Shipping, every item that comes through our dock follows a rigorous process designed to protect your investment and give you complete visibility from the moment it arrives.

Step 1: Arrival and Cross-Check

When a delivery arrives at our dock, the first step is cross-checking the shipment against the purchase order. We verify item counts, confirm vendor information, and flag any discrepancies before the truck leaves. This is the moment to catch short shipments, wrong items, or mislabeled boxes — not installation day.

Step 2: Inspection and Photo Documentation

Every item is carefully unpacked and inspected for damage. Our team photographs each piece from multiple angles, capturing its condition straight out of the packaging. Any pre-existing damage — a scratch, a dent, a fabric flaw — is documented with notes and photos before the item is touched further. This documentation is your evidence if a vendor dispute arises.

Fragile or high-value items receive additional attention. Custom pieces are handled with gloves. Artwork and mirrors are inspected under proper lighting. Nothing gets waved through.

Step 3: Logging and Storage

Once inspected, each item is assigned a unique identifier and logged into our inventory system with its photos, condition notes, and project assignment. It's then moved to its designated storage location — whether that's a climate-controlled bay for sensitive materials or a standard rack for durable pieces.

You can access your inventory in real time, see the photos, and review condition reports without calling us. When installation day arrives, your items are pulled, wrapped, and staged for delivery — exactly as documented.

Why This Process Matters

The dock-to-rack process is where logistics either protects your project or exposes it to risk. A warehouse that skips inspection is a warehouse that can't tell you when damage happened. At B Cubed Shipping, every step is documented so you always have the full picture — and the protection that comes with it.
